egg laying

my chicken layed its first egg on the 30/12/07 and then his second today but the shells a very soft and break in my hands i feed then layer pellets and mixed poultry and veg and just wonderd if any one could tell me some ifo about when the shell will get stronger

    Get Oyster shell grit at the feed store. Or you can boil egg shells, dry them and crush them up to provide extra calcium. This happed to us, but only at the beginning of their egg laying.
