ive found out whos crowing
not one of the Bluebelles that i had suspected but one of the little splash silkies ...whos name is Bluebell...what is it with me and bluebells?
The strange thing is that shes not had any egg issues- no lashes nor soft shells that i know of and shes quite young and was laying perfectly through the winter
very odd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd heard that the alpha hen could become a bit 'cocky' in the absence of a cockerel....but never heard of them crowing!

    Is she still laying now?

shes not top hen , in fact shes in the bottom two and not at all feisty
i watched her yesterday calling the bluebelles over to the fence for tit bits but no dancing ...yet ....
my two silkies are on a break from laying at the mo as they tend to lay more in winter
time will tell if she comes back into lay
