Do any of you know much about this ?
its a hormone produced in the pituitary glands and governs lactation in mammals
sometimes used by vets to induce or increase milk supply in dogs and cats but apparenytly an injection of prolactin given to chickens/ poultry can induce broodiness and is sometimes used in commercial farming
have any of you heard about this and do you know how effective it is and how much it would cost for a hen ?
i tried all sorts to get buffy to go broody when she was prolapsing, if the price is reasonable then these injections could help

Never heard of it Kath - but then, you know I don't try and encourage such things here!

It may be worth contacting the 'Chicken Vet' people too see if they've heard of it.

Meantime I will keep my ears open.
