sour crop

All my chickens seem to have got sour crop but what causes it and will they die from it?

    Hi Melinda - welcome to the forum.

    Just a note to help you with any future threads - it is better to use the "Health and Welfare" section otherwise your thread may not get many views.

    As for sour crop - yes it will kill your hens if it goes untreated.
    There are a lot of posts about sourcrop on here if you search but if yours is at the early stage then it can be sucessfully treated with "Avipro plus", an avian probiotic. This comes in powder form and is added to their water. An avian vet should stock this, or a good pet shop.
    In the meantime, some probiotic yoghurt or yoghurt drink will help if you don't have Avipro.
    If it is more advanced then you will need some medication from the vet, such as baytril antibiotics or an antifungal drug.
