Unsecured Detachable roof not good idea!

This is just a quick testimonial as to the strength of Mr Fox. I purchased a hen house with a detachable roof, complete with fox-proof run and of very robust construction. I struggle to lift the roof myself, but yesterday a fox managed to knock the roof off completely and steal one of my two gorgeous girls. The moral of the story is - detachable roof must be firmly secured at all times, don't rely on the weight itself. I have bought a hasp to secure the roof to the base on both sides from the DIY store today, which can only be unscrewed by human hands. And I hope the fox choked on my Gertie's feathers.

They are strong and determined when there have cubs and they are hungry.
Sorry to hear that you lost Gertie to Mr (or, more likely Mrs) Fox, and having been there, know how bad it fells.
