Has anyone tried the Salatin pens and hoophouse model

My first order of chicks will arrive April 2. I'm a "city girl" with lots to learn...

I think I've read just about every chicken book out there (or it sure seems like it). I'm fascinated by Joel Salatin's model, as described in his book "Pastured Poultry".

I live in the "high desert", where it's hot and dry in summer (can get to 105 F) and cold (to -15 F) in winter, with at least a foot of snow on the ground.

Has anyone tried his model in this climate, or in a similar one? If so, I'd be interested in hearing about your experience, what you've learned, and any advice you may have.

Thanks in advance!
