Do I need a rooster?

I have had chickens for a few years, and I have always had a rooster. Well, this winter my rooster died. Do I need a rooster for my hens to continue to produce eggs? Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

As far as I am aware, a hen will continue to lay eggs without a rooster around..

I am not allowed to have a rooster and my hens still lay :)

You only need a rooster if you want fertile eggs for breeding stock.

    Cheers,

Your hens will probably lay a lot better without a rooster around

No they don't need a rooster to lay eggs.. they lay them automatically every day usually
