Roosters spur is growing towards the leg
My roosters one spur is growing completely bent towards his leg. It's getting pretty long and close to his leg and I'm afraid it might grow into his leg. I don't really know if that's possible, but so far it's pointing directly at the middle of his leg. Can you cut the tips of the spur? I want to just cut the tip of that spur often to prevent it from growing in his leg, but I want to know if it's safe to cute a spur? I don't want to hurt him

the spur is like a nail - theres a blood supply further down but not at the end so he wont feel anything if you just snip the ends off . its best to use dog nail clippers or wire cutters as its very hard .
just one word of warning - dont use a twisting action when you cut as the whole covering may come off revealing just the quick which would be sore for him and open to infection .
youre very much on the ball with caring for your little flock Shani , well done , lots of people may not have noticed this
keep safe xx Kath
Thank you! 😊
If the covering does come off, is it possible for it to grow back and can you cover it up until it has grown back? I just want to know for incase if I mess it up
Thank you so much! I'll try my best
