Dig those holes deep...

My little Elphaba died and was buried recently in the garden...I found her this morning all over the the place - the hole dug up by a fox...found her blanket and her head (eek)...if you are going to bury a loved chicken then do it deep deep deep. M

    so sorry to hear you lost Elphaba and sad to find her like that
    a fox dug up one of the bluebelles a few years back but i only found the hole not the body . what i do now is put a plant pot on top of the grave for a while

    Oh poor you Marie.
    Apparently foxes can smell a body when it's only two or three feet down. We always try and go about four feet, but that needs a pick axe in the dry weather! Also, as Kath says, something on top for a while, such as a paving slab.
    Be very wary about the fox returning and double check your run etc.
